This is pretty disappointing news but I just got off the phone with VX Gold desk and was told that there will be no more complimentary upgrade to Main Cabin Select if the booking was made through a 3rd party (including Amex Travel for those of you who fly for business). I'm not sure I understand the rationale behind this move especially since I believe they are trying to court business travelers. Looks like they're shooting themselves in the foot.

Oh well, it was fun while it lasted; back to AA it is.

EDIT:
Another CSR clarified that 3rd parties in this case are websites like Expedia and Travelocity. Corporate travel agencies are safe.
