I think a few of the posts are a bit tough on the OP- the question is very valid.

Aman delivers an extremely private visit with very few "speedbumps" or unexpected service failures. If you want this (and many do including myself)- the Aman is absolutely worth it. If you are prepared to accept less privacy and perhaps a few service frustrations- then you can easily save at least half your money.

It really depends what you want- for example I am very happy at the Aman whereas Ms. Travelsig prefers a property that is a bit "easier" in her words.
