No Business Class Catering on Transcontinental Flight
Just returned from a fun trip to Oz, all flights from LAX and around Australia were in Virgin Australia business class courtesy of Delta points.
In general, I think VA has a pretty reasonable product. However, had a very disappointing experience flying the 2,000 mile flight from Melbourne to Darwin. On boarding, I was taken aside by the station customer service manager who explained that they had catering difficulties and thus would not be providing any business class catering on the flight. I later found out this would also mean no personal entertainment devices would be distributed.
Although the cabin crew were very friendly, I obviously did not receive the proper business class experience (though I did receive a complimentary sandwich from the economy buy on board menu!).
I was the only passenger in business class and had booked well in advance so not sure why they did not cater the cabin. Although this was a Delta points booking I would like to contact Virgin for compensation for the service failure. Any idea what would be reasonable to ask for in this instance? Cheers!
