12 hours is the end of the world? I was stuck in the Russian far east once for almost a week because of a massive snowstorm. With a bunch of refinery pipe fitters from (!) Oklahoma who were also stranded and over-consoled themselves with vodka the entire time. And the hot water (and therefore the heat) in the town went out for the last 4 days.
