60 days is the minimum period required by federal law. But the bank may, formally or informally, have a policy of investigating these types of complaints even if they are made after the 60 day limit - you never know until you talk to them. In the case of a gift card, common sense dictates that the purchaser will not often know there is a problem with what he purchased until after the 60 days are up. The bank might be amenable to that argument.
