Slightly OT but has cc acceptance improved in the past 5-7 years or so, at least at midrange and cheap restaurants and shops? I also remember having to use cash everywhere in 2004, but am now able to pay with cc at most places I frequent. Maybe it's a Tokyo/big city thing. Still waiting to load Suica/Pasmo with cc though.
