FIrst of all, welcome to (posting on) FlyerTalk, Tedimed!

Since you've seen how it worked last time around, considerf carefully ahead of time the limits you have on your remaining cards so you can know what to answer if these questions come up again.

Most typically they tell me (I don't know if this is different for others) something like "we can only give you $2000 in new credit limit, but we need $5000 to open this card, so can be move $3000 from one of your other cards"? If this is also what they asked you, if you're going to apply for one new card, figure out at least $3000 that could moved, and if you are going to aply for two card, figure out at least $3000 x 2 that could be moved. (On my last pair of HH cards, a few months ago, I indeed did have to move $3000 for each of the two new cards. I ended up pulling the $6000 total from an AA card that had way more than I need on it.)

My understanding is that if you already have farily little CL on a card, that if you move some out of it that may require closing the card immediately. (But I'm not as clear on how that works, because I've so far always had a card with $8000+ on it when asked to move $3000 from somewhere.)
