UA claims nz rejected it even though it shouldn't have been rejected - they're putting it through some side process that could take 90 days to resolve, and would back date '12 and get me over the status hurdle, but I think i'm going to apply some flex EQM to get me over the hurdle before EOY and just be sure, regardless of the disposition of the flight miles.
