FYI, I ended up returning both the Crew 8 and Crew 9 22" rollaboards, for these reasons:
Crew 9's regular handles (not the extension handle) are very snug against the sides of the case, and even when pulled out do not allow easy room for a my winter-gloved adult male hands (fyi, I wear a typical size "large" glove, not extra large, not medium). It would be a pain to have to stop and fiddle with the handle to get my gloved hand in, rather than simply reach down and quickly scoop up the suitcase. (Think: making winter train connections with just a minute or two between trains; or think handling the bag quickly in crowded transport conditions.) Even without gloves, a female family member (smaller hands) thought the handles a pain for quick pick-up of the bag.
Crew 8 didn't have this problem. But for 30% less money and only another 4 or so ounces, the Costco Kirkland 22" I now picked up gives me much more convenient pocket arrangements (with, admittedly, a not as reassuring extension handle shaft--see reviews elsewhere in Flyertalk). (Note: the 4 ounce difference is weight without the suit holders in each case; if you use the suit holder, Costco's suit attachment is heavier than Crew 8's, and the difference in weight between bags starts to get noticeable.)
