They can only pull credit limit from a still-open card, and then close it if you wish. That's why you shouldn't proactively cancel Citi cards just before applying for new ones.

It can take as a long a 6 months for the creidt limit of a cancelled card to go back into your "pool" of (automatically) avilalble credit limit for new cards.

When the card drops off the website may not be connected to that. So you need to keep track of when you cancelled, and to be on the very safe side wait 6 months if you're worried about that. (However, not knowing the rest of your situation at Citi, and with credit in general, I don't know if you do need to worry about that. Also, sometimes your credit limit from a cancelled card can become re-available as soon as 3 months, but there's no way to tell other than to "risk" an application.)

The cards take many many months (quite possibly more than 6 months) to automatically drop off the Citi site. (You can always remove them manually if you wish.)
Thanks for help. I am new here, but I been reading this site for months....when I canceld old HH I transfered CL on another card. I am thinking that I reached the limit with Citi, because when they aproved me for the old one, they called me to ask if I would like to transfer some CL for other cards, because I am at their limit (I have checking, AA and Thank you cards).
To be safe, I am thinking to apply in middle or late January?
