I've flown Bangkok Airways a couple of times and really liked it on short ~1 hour flights in economy. Comfy seats, friendly service what else do you need on a short flight?

As for Air Asia I've flown Thai, Malaysian and Indonesian Air Asia all over South East Asia ~20 or so times and loved it. I usually pay extra ~$7 or so for exit row and always end up the only one in the 3 seats as no one seems to want to pay for exit row. Usually you get 3-4 different hot meal options which are $5-$7 and generally good. Service is quick and efficient i.e. 1 hour flight with hot meal service where they take multiple currencies and give change in a different currency if you ask.
