I would have thought so. In the case of my UK SIM, I'm still using the one I had in 1998, and it now works with 3G. But Chunghwa said on the phone I need to change the physical SIM. Anyway I kinda manage without and I'll get around to it one day. (Think I got the SIM in 2000.)
