The fact that those IFE boxes encroach on your legroom is one of the reasons I switched from window to outer aisle (where possible) on long haul flights.
Hope to have a ride on the NH 787 before too long, too.
Many thanks, Michlflyer. I didn't get too see the best of it, but I enjoyed what little I did see of Okinawa. It was a little alarming to find a binder full of poisinous land and sea creatures to avoid waiting for me on my hotel desk, though.

Very nice report. I too would be mightily disappointed by the presence of that IFE box on the A340, particularly on a long intercontinental flight. Lufthansa's economy class meals looked surprisingly filling and - by appearances at least - pretty good as well.
It's an honour, Seat 2A. The box is a pain, but at least it allows full extension of the leg, unlike a certain Delta flight I took recently which had the box at the front of the legroom space. I was happy with Lufthansa's food offering in general (even short haul), but I'm convinced that salad was put there to comfort any United frequent fliers who happened to be on board.
