What I'm saying is: are you sure that you get a free checked bag on an award ticket? Check the terms and conditions of the credit card's free-checked-baggage benefit. (You should have received a pamphlet that describes the benefit when you received the credit card. Or you can call the credit-card customer service number and ask Chase.)

So if you"pay" the fees/taxes for an award ticket with your UA card does that qualify?

I'm going to move this to UA where the experts are.
