We were flying LAX-ORD on UA and then onward ORD-MUC-BUD on LH and for some reason, the UA agent in LAX couldn't print our boarding passes. Luckily, we had a 3 hour layover in ORD so I had pleanty of time to find a LH agent (in my case, I went to the B17 United Club) and had no problems getting my boarding passes there. It certainly was nice to be able to stay gateside.
