If, and that's a big if, you think the value of E35k is/might be worth it, I'd try a Rapidair or LGA/EWR/JFK flight.
E.g.: Dec 31 (!) YYZ-ORD-YYZ $242.

I think it's also important to determine where the OP calls home. If OP is based out of YVR, there's not much point flying a Rapidair route to get 4 status miles.
Another viable option would be to modify any planned travel within the next week to include an additional connection. Of course, OP may not have any travel booked for the next week.
