Hoping to get into MR's this year, and I really do want to go to KC

I've been reading this guide:

But still unable to get the fare to show up on United/Travelocity

Using this one as an example, could someone write a quick description of how to get the fare to show up on an online booking tool [which one?- I've tried multi-city and browsing the 2+stops]? I've been following the guides but no luck yet, I think it will be easier when I get one in the books.
