Not sure what all the fuss is about. I'm a CP on US and have seen what was admittedly the worst carrier turn itself into something decent. Flights are pretty much on time, equipment is new-ish, FAs friendly (with an occasional exception), VAST improvements in IrrOps (am based in Philly and they consistently handle misconnects well, with staff at gate handing out new boarding passes and hotel vouchers, no one has to go to customer service), great upgrade percentage, and the Envoy suites on Airbi are really great. My few experiences with AA have been ok, but it seems IrrOps throw them much more for a loop and the planes are pretty tired. I do like AA's technology (better website and has an iPhone app) plus its nice to have IFE on domestic trips (when not on an MD80), but the differences aren't that vast. As someone who lived through the worst years of US (just pre- and a few years post-AWA), the airline is actually pretty good now. I agree the merger will be bumpy, and it will take some time for everything to settle in, but US is no longer a poorly run airline, so let's hope the combined team learns from the CO/UA mess and gets it right. As someone who logged 160k PQMs on US this year (and about 20k on AA, including some paid F so I can compare apples to apples up front), things are pretty much similar except US feels more efficient and AA a bit friendlier. But these differences seem marginal. I guess what I'm getting at is this: reading the posts, it seems many AA FFs are scared the worst will happen, but from the US side, things have been pretty decent and continue to improve... Hope this helps assuage some fears. P.S. met Parker on a flight a few years ago. Chatted in the back galley for a good hour, he seemed really interested in a very FFs view. Overall nice guy.
