It is correct. The reason is that the "fare basis" for a redemption seems to be BAFM01 (or something similar), which the Amex IT interprets as booking into "B" class. I've recently seen a partner redemption for which the "fare basis" was PAFM05, which was duly interpreted as "P" class.
