My daughter and son-in-law will not be home for Christmas Day again (flying YWG-YOW today.) Three out of three times for flight delays at Christmas. Two out of three times, they've missed arriving the day they should and this time is the most galling since family in Toronto report the weather is fine as it is here and YWG. It isn't even mechanical.

Originally, they were flying through YYZ, arriving here for dinner. Thankfully, I've got used to this so dinner is stew in the crock pot (the big dinner will be 29th.) Now they are on the direct flight and coming in at midnight.

When my YYZ sister told me about the 200 canceled flights, I assumed it was YYZ ground crew industrial action but she said it was due to weather, although she could shed no light on what sort of weather.

Thankfully, our armed forces stand by to rush in to help with the 5 - 10 cm of snow expected 36 hours from the start of the cancellations.
