Ok.. thanks Wx4caster.. I have priced the interisland flights separately and may pay for those . I have seen them fluctuate from $70 to $90 and from 5k miles to 7.5k
I am somewhat flexible on which way I go though - whether to stop on the way to Maui at SFO or doing it on the way back.
The only thing that is reserved so far is the condo in Maui so I have been looking to see what flights are better timewise and length to stop and so far it seems that the outbound stop to SFO seems to be better.
I will keep looking and comparing pricing and hoping that is the same for next year once the awards open up..
Interestingly even this late in December I can look and see availability in January 2013.
This is good I have lots of time to plan for Jan 2014 and once the points for the United Card are deposited I will go back and look again and make my reservations. I will look at the option you mentioned too from KOA -HNL- EWR- ROC too. Thanks again for the info.
