I think it should be a hopefully enjoyable experience! BTW, I expected a bigger difference between the Chinese and Western meals. My first Chinese meal included an excellent lobster stir fry but the other ones that I had were not necessarily as good, my last Chinese meal of Alaskan king crab and king prawns in xo sauce being a real disappointment; by contrast, the Western rack of lamb on my second flight was in fact lovely and even cooked medium (I prefer rarer than that myself, but by airlines standards that is pretty good!) although snapper on my third flight was disappointing.
One last note, if you have any overnight transit (or any transit for which you plan to leave the airport), do remember to bring an itinerary print out with you as immigration will ask for it.
