I am happy to report the issue has been resolved quickly. CA/KA delivered our baggage at 12 noon local time so the delay was only 12 hrs. It was certainly better than what I experienced with UA several years ago when our luggage was never delived during our 3 weeks vacation in China. But people with short transfer in HKG do need to be aware the greater possilility than usual that your luggage may not arrive with you. In my case our connection was oinly 10 mins more than the minimum 50 minutes. YeS CX is very good in guiding you through HKG but it looks like your luggage might not have the same priority as yourself. You might want to consider carrying essential stuff with you instead of through checked baggage.
I do not think the "tight" connection time was the problrm. Things do cock up once awhile I guess.
I was on SIN-HKG-TPE flight last weekand on very tight connection time (50 min) and the SIN-HKG flight arrive 22min late. Hence my connection time was only like less than 30min but my luggage arrived in TPE with the same flight with me.
