Bottom line: if you're on a flight and you actually SEE something like this happen and you're concerned, ring your call button and ask. Otherwise, email a complaint to Delta.
Pretty sure there would not be as much anger and frustration towards a service member being upgraded. But I also think he should wait AFTER me if he is not a Diamond. Service member or not. My chosen profession is certainly remarkable in many ways as well.
