Very well trained and experienced security professionals make $100k+/yr. *60k employees would be $6B just in labor. We see the conundrum.
My view is that TSA screeners are not security professionals. They screen people and bags so they might be more correctly called screener professionals. That is the entirety of their jobs. Not much advanced skill is involved nor does that work demand a high wage.
The agency may be horrible but that doesn't mean the employees have to follow along the horrible path. But they have!
