I have used the DIR 505 on several trips in Asia. I have used it as WiFi Hotspot and Repeater mode. It is a very useful product, especially in hotel rooms and the devices that I used.

However, as a WiFi Hotspot mode, the setup is a bit tricky. The device scans for the wifi signal. You select the hotel wifi for example. The device hooks onto the hotel wifi and reboots. My problem has been at this rebooting stage. I have to do this 2-3 times before I can get it to work. But once it is working, it is a godsend.

Hope that helps.
