It is perhaps by the bye to this thread, but shorthaul Avios + money is now very good value. I have recently booked flights where an exact calculation produced a value of 2.7p per Avios (without using 2-4-1). And this valuation ignores the fact that the tickets are fully flexible: if one calculated the value by reference to the fully flex revenue fares, it is probably about 10p per Avios !
