I'm flying TPE-HKG-YVR-YEG on Sunday and I have 9hrs in HKG.. I'm curious if I'm allowed on an AC ticket to clear customs in HKG and spend the day there before heading back to the airport?

I've heard on some tickets this is not permitted... I'm also curious what happens to my bags in a situation like this? Will they be checked all the way through to YEG and I won't even have to worry about them?

Any help would be appreciated!
