Well, if the US can offer Global Entry services to foreign nationals, then perhaps there is a glimmer of hope for other improvements, at least within your lifetime.

Sadly, despite its size and claimed importance to economic activity, improvements to the US air transport system (both in the air and on the ground) are not a high priority politically. If it is any indication, the last time there was motivation to do something in the US, we got the TSA...
