The price by taking the Underground all the way depends on what other travel plans you have in London. I assume you don't have an Oyster card?
So a paper, single ticket to Baler Street will be £5.30 until 2nd Jan, on and after 2nd Jan will be £5.50.
I have the Oyster card but at that price it's a little too expensive.
I thought it would be a little cheaper then that. With the discount the hex is 16 pounds as you say. the connect is 10 pounds. as you say the prices are all relative.
