I just did several MRs JFK-HNL over last 3 weeks and can talk about DFW-HNL, LAX-HNL, ORD-HNL
All 3 routes were on 763s, which meant slanted 180 degree seats in J. I never had a problem sleeping in those before (some people complain about sliding down), but did find several drawbacks / solutions this time.
If you are not comfortable in fully extended seat, stop at 99%. That way the seat is not 180% flat, but rather has a very slight slant-flat-slant feel keeping you in place.
For the first time 763 J seat felt narrow. I'm not a wide guy by any means, but I did feel a bit weird while sleeping.
My last MR was ORD-HNL-ORD with 30 minutes in HNL. Even though it was J seat and I'm still in my 20s by the end of 17th hour my back was hurting. ORD-HNL flight was perfectly fine.

I understand that in March LAX-HNL is on 757, which has recliner in J.
DFW-HNL would be your best bet to snag 763, but award seats on those are very limited.
IIRC, ORD-HNL is seasonal and doesn't operate in March.

I was going to suggest DFW-OGG, but it doesn't have a single award seat in J in March.
