I'll be at work until 3:45pm; hence, I can't take an earlier flight. I'll have two heavy and large bags with me, so it won't be practical taking the bags with me to work and then riding the metro/subway to DCA with them. Yes, I booked the trip with AA and am planning to call AA to protect the CX segments in the event the AA flight gets canceled or severely delayed.
Tough crowd.

But to say the least, I'm getting quick responses. (Getting prepared to be told that DC is not in the Northeast.

This story still makes no sense to me. Ok, you're on the basically 1am departure from JFK on CX i take it. you're willing to spend the bucks on amtrack to Penn Station then you'll have to get all the way out to JFK. Yet, you wouldn't just take a taxi from your office to DCA? that would be far cheaper and less hassle. Just makes no sense.
