I wouldn't be too worried. This is how it always happens nowadays, the union using Megaphone Diplomacy through the press, putting the frighteners on the travelling public and pressure on the politicians, and grossly overstating the position. Exactly the same thing has happened the last two Boxing Days, with no issue. The staff in the end just work normally.
