The analysis is saying...
If you spent $X in a year on general card spend, and $Y a year with the airline, that would give you a blended rate of points per $.
If you then redeemed those points on the routes and classes shown, what would those points be worth, expressed as a % of the initial spend.
I have assessed the monetary value of a redemption by looking at the current price of a live ticket in the far classes indicated, though this is of course highly variable.
I would welcome any improvement to the methodology - so for those interested, here are the workings:
