There is a promo through the end of the month (Dec) for 10x bonus points when purchasing a GiftCard, for which eGiftCards are included. (Maximum $2,000 spend on GiftCards) I'm not sure if the promo was targeted. By entering your MR# in the promo field, you get the bonus points.
Consider a $200 stay.
Without the eGift Card, as Plat:
- Points for stay: 2,000
- Plat 50% bonus: 1,000
- Welcome Gift: 500
- Marriott Visa: 1,000
- Total Points: 4,500
With the eGiftCard, as a Plat, using Marriott Visa to purchase eGift Card, you get an additional 2,000 points for a total of 6,500. Not bad for a $200 stay! Put another way, it creates 20,000 extra points if you launder your Marriott payments through GiftCards!
