We have never flown in or out of LAX and are considering flights on Southwest, connecting to United.

1) What would the approximate time be on the inter-terminal shuttle between terminals 1 and 8?

2) Is it possible/advisable to walk through the parking structures between these two and about how much time would it take?

We would not be checking any bags.
