Not such a problem with the new generation of planes. 787 promises much cleaner air in the cabin.( come on BA, build the stupid thing!!)

Touching door handles, elevator buttons,handshakes etc are as contagious as sitting next to someone that sneezes all the time in my opinion.

On the annoyance scale I wouldn't rate this very high. It is winter, People are coughing, sneezing, and sounding like they are a barrel full of snot!

BTW flying with blocked nose, sinuses can be very painful caused by the pressured environment you are traveling in.
