I don't think that would work - to do Gold Choice you have to pay for an intermediate class or higher, eligibility isn't triggered just by receiving an upgrade in your stall. If you got the upgrade though, you probably could ask for something else in that class (IE upgrade to YF, see if something else in YF available).
