Points/$s seem to be very separate throughout WN's system. When flying on points and I try to standby the agent has to

1) verify that I am the account holder who earned the points. Otherwise no changes, even to a flight costing the same # of points, is allowed. offering to get the account holder on the phone didn't help. The only thing that did was that I had that family member's Rapid Rewards membersihip card on me, which they swiped. WN's rules state that points are bookable for travel by anyone you name, this compicated things.

2) the agent will then tell me the fare difference in points. They do not offer a cost difference in dollars. However, the online checkin kiosks DO offer to upgrade to business select even when flying on points. I haven't agreed to the prompt, but think it would likely fail at the last stage of processing.

On a side note, I had another recent expeience with WN gift cards: Kiosks cannot accept WN gift cards to pay for a fare upgrade to business select, nor can ticket counter agents/gate agents. Frustrating...
