Las Vegas does not restrict drinking in public--but for the NYE period, (generally beginning 24 hours in advance) BOTTLES are prohibited (plastic is OK). So there will be lots of (very
) inebriated people all over the strip (and DOWNTOWN as well). Plan your outdoor adventures accordingly.
To expand upon this--it's not bottles per se, but rather any glass containers. They don't want broken glass ending up underfoot.
