Just booked ZFV-EWR-SAV for a weekend in March - RT EWR would have priced into Q fare at $508, but adding the ZFV segment priced into T fare at $269 so it was a no-brainer for me

From what I read in the old CO forum, I get credit for the train segments (and avoid cancellation of the EWR-SAV segments) by physically picking up the Amtrak tickets at a kiosk? In other words they have no way of knowing if the conductor actually took/punched my ticket?
