I actually did have some initial success on it by using ITA software, but then I was not able to duplicate pricing on AA.com and even after contacting them, they were not able to come up with the lower fare, so I just assumed I must have done something wrong. Also, if I remember correctly, there are certain airlines which are "easier" than others.

Perhaps, I will give it a shot before I go on vacation, and my ultimate puzzle reward may be AA EXP, that would certainly be an incentive for it to become a "hobby."
