Make sure your wife is on upgrade wait list at airport. If you don't want to be split up, you can ask to be put back in coach. They're not going to upgrade her solely because you're married, but they will upgrade her if she's on the same ticket, she's on the list, and there is a seat available for her (ie no one in front of her priority-wise).
