For the life of me I can't understand why hotels dont fix this. Almost every property I have stayed at has doors that noisily slam shut. How hard can it be to build a door that closes quietly.

The sole exception that I have been at is the W Hong Kong which has rubber coatings on some of the door hardware. It is better, but still not great. After decades of slamming doors in thousands of hotels, I am very surprised nobody has got this right yet.
Probably cheaper to give free drink vouchers or discount the cost of rooms with complaints than to fix every room. The A/C units for some reason make a lot of noise and tend to freeze over. We are talking properties with less than 2 years of age.
