Read that OZ is also going to use a A380 from LAX to ICN but I don't know when.
U might also want to consider the cost of award tickets.
It's about $300 or so for KE.
Don't know about OZ via UA.
Thanks HawaiiO. Are you saying that there were 12 total seats available in the F cabin, or there were 12 F award seats available for the flight and you had two of those?
And paying a few hundred dollars more is fine by me if it gives me greater availability and flexibility. Going through UA is fairly cheap - I believe taxes are less than $100.

However, if you want to attach domestic flights in US, very hard to do that with KE miles. UA mile is much better because if there's no availability from particular city, you can always fly to other gateway city and fly from there - all free.
KE charges fuel surcharge and additional taxes (total 350 USD for a roundtrip), but very flexible and no charge for cancelation. KE also requires credit card validation for all non-Korean cards which might be annoying sometimes (if you're flying from other city using a separate ticket).
If you're not closing the account, why don't you keep holding the points and transfer when needed?
Thanks bobbybrown. I do like the fact that using KE miles gives me some flexibility as opposed to using UA miles for OZ. I know that OZ also gives the same flexibility as KE, but I don't have enough OZ miles for use in the near future. Also, I have no plans to attach a domestic flight but thanks for the warning.

Thanks sbm12. I won't transfer the points until early next year, but I just wanted to get a feel as to the availability of award tix for planning purposes.
