If I can get premium cabin, I like to make my flight as direct as possible. If I have to fly coach, I like to break it where I'd have lounge access and LHR is good for that. For example, AUH-ORD in Y would be painful; however, AUH-LHR, then a few hours in the lounge, then LHR-USA is more manageable.
I agree that AUH - ORD is a long flight and while EY is a great airline I try to avoid any flight that long.
People should give RJ a closer look - 33" pitch in Y on the A340 with 3 meal options. Will have more to report back in Jan after family travels on it with my miles and reports back on it for ORD - AMM - DEL - choose that over ORD - EWR - BRU - DEL mainly because there's only one daily ORD - EWR and seems a little risky for Jan. If only AA flew ORD - BRU or had better connection times with AY in HEL.
