No, why would you be crazy? You're buying status, a tangible item with known benefits. Same as if you were to buy an iPod at the Apple Store (which you might need for this trip. )

I think you're getting a seriously fine value at this time of year for 6.8¢ per mile. Are you doing a straight turn at SIN, or did the fare require you to stay overnight?
