Lurker but first time poster. I am based out of LA but I fly to NY maybe 3-5 times a year with irregular trips to LAS and SF. I also have irregular flights to Asia (SHA/TPE/HKG).

I found myself trying to decide on one airline/alliance to go with for my flights to try to get status - I've got about 31k miles on UA and about 13k miles on DL at the moment. My wife primarily uses China Airlines for her Asia flights so I was thinking that I might go with DL, but many friends had recommended UA instead because of the better redemption.

Any advice is welcome! I was also thinking of maybe signing up for Aegean to get status quickly on StarAlliance? Thanks!
