Hi all,

I am new here on Flyer Talk (currently with silver status on UA) but wanted some quick advice. I am 278 miles short of Silver status on UA (24,722 miles / 20.5 segments). I know silver status is not that great but the extra legroom on Economy plus seating with my height is really worth it.

I called United but they won't budge in giving me Silver status even though I am so close. Do I have to do a mileage run to go the remaining distance or is there some other tactic I am missing? I just signed up for Explorer Club Card with many of the same benefits but it won't have the economy plus upgrades I don't think.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. Btw, I am based out of SFO.
