Nothing is ever guaranteed.

But if you've upgraded, you won't get bumped down unless plane is way oversold. You'll get some very nice downgrade compensation, or you can find alternate *A flights in C to get you where you want to go, or wait for the next flight on UA.

Most folks here though take the compensation, since they have to be where they were flying on time...
